Active grandparents

We are all leading increasingly busy lifestyles and with mum and dad often both working full time, grandparents regularly find themselves taking on childcare roles. This can be a very rewarding experience and hopefully one that both grandchildren and grandparents can benefit from.

You may not know it, but if you spend time with your grandchildren you can be a real influence over them and encourage them to adopt a healthy lifestyle including an active one.

  • Do you encourage your grandchild to be active?
  • Do you take them places so they can take part in physical activities?
  • Do you often join in and get active yourself?
  • Could you walk them to or from school?

These are all ideas on how you can support your grandchildren to be more active and help them get their minimum of 60 minutes physical activity a day. And what about yourself – why not get more active with them?
